Laura McAuliffe

My name is Laura and I’m based in Ennis, Co. Clare. I am practicing as a Postpartum Doula and Birth Doula. Growing up, my Mother was a midwife in Limerick, and I was always surrounded by stories of pregnancy, birth and babies, and have been fascinated by it all for as long as I can remember.

For the past 5 years I have been working as a holistic therapist practicing Reiki, Indian Head Massage and Reflexology. This led me to train as a Doula beginning in 2022.

In my practice during the last 5 years, I found that most of my clients were women. I absolutely loved holding space for women, and in 2021 I started running monthly women’s circles. I noticed that a lot of my clients were either trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum. I loved helping them through each of these phases and found I knew so much already, probably from being so exposed to it my whole life by being around my Mother. I grew more and more interested, and considered studying midwifery, and during my research I learned what a Doula was. This immediately felt like a perfect fit, as it steered away from the medical aspect and focused more on holding space for women and supporting them holistically through this transition.
Being a doula combines my love of working with women, holistic therapies, and all things birth and postpartum. I haven’t looked back since I started my training with Doula Care Ireland in 2022.

I have supported many women and families in the last couple of years and it has been an honour to make their experience more safe, calm and enjoyable. Whether that be birth or postpartum. My goal is always to meet a woman where she is at and support her in whatever way she needs, without judgement. I love the phrase to “mother the mother”, and that’s what I always aim to do. Support and hold you, so you can feel safe, empowered and informed.

I can support you through pregnancy, birth and/or postpartum. I am also trained as a hypnobirthing teacher and an Infant Feeding Specialist. I am happy to cover anywhere within 1 hour 30 minutes from Ennis. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss my services further!
